SCPA is a registered charity. We receive support and part funding from Southampton City Council together with funding from a variety of sources.
SCPA develops, supports and promotes Play Projects across Southampton for all children between the ages of 5 and 12 years.
Under 5's are welcome but must be must be accompanied by an appropriate parent /carer.
SCPA believes that every child has the right to freely chosen play and that through play children learn to develop their social, physical, intellectual, creative and emotional skills.
All our play projects are "Open Access". This means that children are supervised whilst taking part in activities onsite, however, as our projects are NOT care facilities we are unable to prevent them leaving the site at anytime during the session.
Play Projects are run by paid staff and voluntary staff. All staff undertake playwork training, are police and health checked and there is always a first aider on each site.
At all of our Play Projects staff follow SCPA's Equal Opportunities, Child Protection and Health and Safety Policies.
All SCPA Play Projects are supported by the Play Development Team who visit the sites regularly, providing ongoing advice, support and information.
OFSTED (Office for Standards in Education) are the regulators for Open Access services for children. All our Play Projects meet the National Standards and Guidelines.
